Institute for Studies in Sacred Architecture

Liturgical Environs is pleased to be the sponsor of a new academic initiative to promote the scholarly study of sacred architecture.

The Instititute for Studies in Sacred Architecture (ISSA) is an interdisciplinary, ecumenical and interfaith forum that examines sacred architecture -- both traditional and contemporary -- from a wide range of disciplines: architectural and art history, comparative religion, consciousness theory, cosmology, contemporary architectural theory, cultural anthropology, design theory, enculturation studies, mathematics, philosophy, psychology, semiotics, science, sociology, and theology.
